During a Product Details test, Shogun uses the Cart Transform Function API to ensure a shopper's cart remains consistent across the storefront, cart, and checkout. This API is only available to merchants on the Shopify Plus plan.
If you are not on the Shopify Plus plan, you can still use Product Details testing in Shogun. However, it is important to understand how your Variant product data will appear throughout the buying journey.
Below is an example to illustrate how Variant B’s unique title, images, and prices are expected to display across your store:
Summary of changes:
Product title: "Golf Ball | Surfboard" —> "Surfboard Golf Ball"
Product images: reordered to show the lifestyle images first
Product variant images: selected the lifestyle image as the featured image for the variants
Prices: rounded prices to 99 cents
Now, let's look at how these should appear across your store.
Product Details Page
On the Product Page, you should see the variant’s image gallery, product title, and price.
Collections Page
On the Collection page, the variant’s featured image, product title, and price should appear. Additionally, if the product appears in other sections of your store (for example, a Featured Products section on your homepage), the variant information should also appear there.
Cart
In the Cart Drawer and Cart Page, you should see the variant’s featured image, product title, and price.
Checkout
In Checkout, you will see:
The original featured image
The original product title
The variant price
This behavior, though inconsistent with the rest of the journey, is expected because the Cart Transform Function API is not available for merchants who are not on Shopify Plus.
