Connect Meta Ads to see campaign performance in your test results

Connecting your Meta Ads account lets you filter any A/B test's results by ad platform and campaign — so you can see how a test performed for shoppers who arrived from a specific Meta campaign, rather than only across all of your traffic.

You'll need admin access to your Shopify store and a Meta account with access to the business portfolio that owns your ads.

Connect your account

1. Open Settings

In the Shopify admin, go to Apps → Shogun A/B Testing → Settings, then scroll to the bottom of the page to the Meta Ads section.

2. Click Connect Meta Ads

A Facebook Login for Business window opens. If nothing happens, check that your browser isn't blocking pop-ups and try again.

3. Sign in to Meta

Confirm your account and enter your password. Your browser might also ask whether Facebook can send you notifications — that's a browser prompt, not part of the setup, so you can safely block it.

4. Choose what to share

Meta asks which business assets to share with Shogun.

  • Business portfolio — choose the portfolio that owns your ads.

  • Ad Account — Meta marks this as optional, but please select it. This is what gives Shogun access to your campaign data. If you skip it, the connection will finish successfully, but no ads will appear.

Click Next.

5. Confirm permissions

Meta shows what Shogun can access; your Facebook ads and related stats. This is read-only; Shogun can't create, edit, or spend anything on your account. Click Confirm.

6. Finish up

Meta confirms the connection, and you'll click Finish. The window returns to Shogun, shows a green Connected message, and closes automatically.

That's it — you're connected.

7. Check that your ads came through

Click Ads in the app sidebar. You should see a list of the ads Shogun has pulled in, with the campaign, ad group, status, and flight dates for each one.

If the list is empty, wait a minute or two and refresh — the first sync can take a moment.

Filter your test results by campaign

1. Open a test

From the app home, open any test — running or finished. Tests are grouped under the All, Draft, Running, Paused, and Finished tabs.

2. Find the Traffic source filter

On the test's Insights tab, you'll see a row of filters above your results: date range, device, time period, and Traffic source. Click Traffic source.

3. Select Meta Ads

Tick Meta Ads on the left. Your results update immediately to show only visitors who arrived from Meta, and your campaigns appear in the column on the right.

4. Pick your campaigns

Tick one or more campaigns. The filter label updates to show how many you've selected, and every metric on the page recalculates for just that traffic.

All of your usual metrics — add-to-cart rate, conversion rate, average order value, traffic, orders, click-through, and profit — now reflect only the campaigns you chose.

A note on smaller numbers: filtering to a single campaign can leave you with a much smaller group of visitors than the full test. When that happens, percentages can swing dramatically on very few orders. It's worth glancing at the visitor and order counts before you read too much into a big-looking difference.

Troubleshooting

My Ads page is empty. The most common cause is that no Ad Account was selected during setup. Head back to Settings → Meta Ads and reconnect, making sure you choose an ad account at the "choose what to share" step.

I don't see Meta Ads in the Traffic source filter. The connection probably didn't finish. Check Settings → Meta Ads to confirm your account is connected.

The campaign list is empty. You'll need to tick a platform on the left before campaigns appear on the right.

A campaign shows no results. That campaign likely didn't send any traffic to this test during the date range you've selected. Try widening the date range.
