Connect Google Ads to see campaign performance in your test results

Connecting your Google Ads account lets you filter any A/B test's results by campaign, so you can see how a test performed for shoppers who arrived from a specific Google campaign rather than only across all your traffic.

You'll need admin access to your Shopify store, and a Google account with access to the Google Ads account you want to connect.

Connect your account

1. Open Settings

In the Shopify admin, go to Apps → Shogun A/B Testing → Settings, then scroll to the bottom of the page to the Google Ads section.

2. Click Continue with Google

A Google sign-in window opens. If nothing happens, check that your browser isn't blocking pop-ups and try again.

3. Choose your account

Pick the Google account that has access to your Google Ads. If the right one isn't listed, click Use another account and sign in.

4. Verify it's you

Google may ask you to confirm your identity with a passkey, your password, or another method depending on how your account is set up.

Follow the prompts.

5. Give Shogun access

Google shows you what Shogun is asking for. Review it and click Continue.

6. You're connected

You'll see a green Connected message confirming your Google Ads account is linked, and you can close that tab.

Back in Settings, the Google Ads section now reads Google Ads are connected, with a Disconnect Google button, which you'd use if you ever want to remove the connection.

Your campaigns will start syncing in the background. Give it a few minutes before you go looking for them in your test results.

Filter your test results by campaign

1. Open a test

From the app home, open any running or finished test.

2. Find the Traffic source filter

On the test's Insights tab, you'll see a row of filters above your results: date range, device, time period, and Traffic source. Click Traffic source.

3. Select Google Ads

Tick Google Ads on the left. Your results update immediately to show only visitors who arrived from Google, and your campaigns appear in the column on the right.

4. Pick your campaigns

Tick one or more campaigns. The filter label updates to show how many you've selected, and every metric on the page recalculates for that traffic only.

All of your usual metrics update — add-to-cart rate, conversion rate, average order value, traffic, orders, click-through, and profit.

A note on smaller numbers: filtering to a single campaign can leave you with a much smaller group of visitors than the full test. When that happens, percentages can swing dramatically on very few orders. It's worth glancing at the visitor and order counts before you read too much into a big-looking difference.

Troubleshooting

Nothing happened when I clicked Continue with Google. Your browser is probably blocking the pop-up. Allow pop-ups and try again.

I don't see Google Ads in the Traffic source filter. The connection may not have finished. Check Settings → Google Ads to confirm it shows as connected.

My campaigns aren't showing up yet. The first sync takes a few minutes. If they're still missing after that, try disconnecting and reconnecting.

The campaign list is empty. You'll need to tick a platform on the left before campaigns appear on the right.

A campaign shows no results. That campaign likely didn't send any traffic to this test during the date range you've selected. Try widening the date range.
